Wrist

The Wrist

We made the wrist totally mechanical. Our reason for doing this is the limited input signals, we only have one sensor. So adding another electrical component seems illogical, it would overcomplicate the control of the prothesis.

However our wrist still has an impressive range of motion. It can do a full 360 degrees of rotation and it will extend and flex 90 degrees.

There is a tensioner on the side of the model, loosening this will increase the play in the ball and disk. This will make it able to rotate and reposition it. Tightening this bolt will lock the movement.

The ball part of the joint has added indentations, like a golf ball, these indentations fall into a male counterpart, this totally prevents the ball from moving.
